French singer-songwriter, recording artist and author Mathieu Hauguel has spent more than a decade building an independent career at the intersection of pop, R&B, Latin influences and electronic music.
Across four studio albums, dozens of original songs and millions of cumulative video views, he has developed a creative identity in which music, imagery and storytelling exist as parts of the same world. His work moves between intimacy and spectacle, combining emotionally driven songwriting with an increasingly cinematic visual language.
Independent by design, Mathieu has built his career outside the traditional music-industry system, turning the internet into both a stage and a direct connection with his audience.
From Normandy To A Digital Stage
Born in Harfleur, Normandy, Mathieu began writing and sharing his first songs at the age of fifteen. YouTube and digital platforms quickly became his first creative outlets, allowing him to release music, experiment publicly and build a relationship with listeners without waiting for permission from the traditional industry.
In 2014, he released “Elle,” his first commercially distributed single. The song introduced one of the defining themes of his work: the complexity of human relationships and the emotions they leave behind.
Love, desire, separation, absence, misunderstanding, loneliness and personal reconstruction would gradually become recurring elements throughout his catalogue.
Further releases followed, including “Pardonne-moi,” “One More Time” and “Qui suis-je?”. In 2016, a new version of “Pardonne-moi” was accompanied by a music video filmed on the cliffs of Étretat, revealing the growing importance of visual storytelling in Mathieu’s artistic identity.
Avenir Incertain: The First Album
The release of “Tu sais” on July 19, 2018 marked an important turning point. The song introduced Mathieu to a wider audience and opened a new period of artistic development. It was followed by “Le Temps” and, on April 30, 2019, by his debut studio album, Avenir incertain.
Across seventeen tracks, the album offered the first complete portrait of his musical world. It brought together the emotional writing, melodic pop and personal questions that had shaped his earliest releases while establishing the foundations of a much larger artistic vision. The same period saw Mathieu expand the visual scale of his work. The video for “Comme si” was filmed inside the monumental Abbaye du Valasse, while “Humain” moved beyond relationships to address wider environmental and social concerns.
With “Mi Bella,” his music entered a more international space. Filmed in Rio de Janeiro, the video introduced stronger Latin and reggaeton influences that would later become an important part of his sound. His independent journey also attracted television attention, with France 3 documenting his early career and artistic development.
A Cinematic Identity Emerges
In 2020, Mathieu entered a new creative phase. Partly performed in English, “Notre monde” presented a darker perspective on contemporary society and the effects of an increasingly connected world.
“Freedom” introduced a more futuristic visual direction and marked an important aesthetic shift. From that point forward, the music video was no longer treated as a simple promotional tool. Each release became an opportunity to create its own atmosphere, imagery and narrative.
The release of “T’es ma jolie” confirmed the growing reach of his audience, with its music video surpassing one million views on YouTube.
This period established a principle that continues to define Mathieu’s work today: every song should be able to exist as both a musical experience and a visual world.
Horizon: Expanding The Sound
On September 17, 2021, Mathieu released his second studio album, Horizon. Across sixteen tracks, the album significantly expanded his musical palette. French pop remained at its core, but it was now joined by stronger elements of R&B, reggaeton and urban production. The project also revealed a wider perspective in his songwriting. Alongside relationships and emotional conflict, Mathieu began exploring social pressure, digital culture, isolation, loss and the need for freedom. Songs including “Horizon,” “Freedom,” “J’prends la route” and “T’es ma jolie” helped define this new chapter: more ambitious in sound, more varied in subject matter and more confident in its visual identity.
Towards A More International Sound
In May 2022, Mathieu released “Señorita,” driven by a contemporary Latin production. The song and its accompanying content reached a significant audience across digital platforms, confirming the connection between his listeners and this new musical direction. Later that year, “Dinero” pushed the production further while examining the relationship between money, power and personal ambition. These releases reflected a broader objective: to continuously raise the musical and visual standard of the project while allowing it to move beyond the boundaries of the French-speaking market. Mathieu’s third studio album, Univers, was released on June 30, 2023. Across eighteen tracks, the album continued this evolution. It explored a broader range of sounds while preserving the emotional writing and contemporary questions at the heart of his catalogue. Rather than committing to a single genre, Univers presented Mathieu as an artist drawn to contrast, movement and experimentation.
Project X Infinity: A Conceptual Turn
On January 31, 2025, Mathieu released PROJECT X INFINITY, his fourth studio album and most ambitious project to date. Across eighteen tracks, the album creates a musical multiverse in which pop, rap, reggae, reggaeton, synthwave, electronic production and French songwriting collide.
Each song was conceived as an independent world, with its own sound, atmosphere, imagery and emotional identity. More importantly, PROJECT X INFINITY marked a major evolution in the way Mathieu approached his work. The song was no longer an isolated object. Music, artistic direction, photography, fashion, video, narrative and digital strategy became interconnected elements of the same experience. This approach continued through a new series of releases including “Pas 2 comme toi,” “Bad Girl,” “Baila,” “RUNAWAY,” “SHINE” and “CALOR Y AMOR.” Several of his audiovisual productions have now reached or surpassed one million views, strengthening a catalogue capable of attracting attention far beyond a single release.
Beyond The Music
What began as a teenage creative experiment on the internet has gradually evolved into a complete independent artistic project. Today, Mathieu’s career brings together four studio albums, dozens of original songs, an extensive audiovisual catalogue and a digital community developed over more than a decade. But the defining quality of his work is not a number. It is the contrast that exists at the center of everything he creates: Glamour and vulnerability. Ambition and uncertainty. Light and solitude. The intimate and the spectacular. His songs explore love and desire, but also freedom, money, social pressure, digital identity, environmental anxiety, ambition and the universal struggle to find a place in a world that never stops changing.That emotional dimension is combined with a deliberately cinematic aesthetic shaped by fashion photography, international landscapes, nocturnal environments, futuristic references and visual influences drawn from both European culture and global pop. Alongside his music, Mathieu’s 2026 autobiography brings a new dimension to the project, offering a first-person account of the experiences, doubts and defining moments behind the public image. It is not a departure from the music, but an extension of the same story.
The Next Chapter
Mathieu Hauguel is now entering a new phase. After independently building his catalogue, audience and creative identity, his ambition is to take the project beyond the French-speaking world. The French language remains an essential part of his identity, while the Latin, Anglo-American, urban and electronic influences running through his music allow him to imagine a career in which stylistic and geographical borders matter less and less. More than a singer, Mathieu is building a contemporary pop signature designed to be recognized through both its sound and its imagery. A creative world born in Normandy.
